I’m venturing on my microcomputer, that a lot of you reading this, didn’t even know the word ‘procrastination’ subsisted till last year. We just plainly used the term postponing. So I’m ringing you with the elucidation of procrastination. Procrastination is the habit of delaying an important task, usually by focusing on less urgent, more enjoyable, and easier activities instead. It is different from laziness, which is the unwillingness to act. Procrastination can restrict your potential and undermine your career. Yes! You heard that right *undermine your career*. Oh, and also on a side note, procrastination ain’t mental illness.

Okay, so, we all embarked on procrastinating when Quarantine banged in the year 2020. The time when we were made to sit at home, plugged onto our laptops for work and binge-watching series and vice-versa. The pandemic did tear down the finance of the majority of the population, making us realize and be grateful for the only 9–6 job we had in our hands. But on the other side, earning money online was making a huge noise on the internet platforms.

Today entering into the second season of the pandemic made us treasure the time we have in our hands to learn new skills or be productive as much as possible. Gosh, I know being productive is hard. Especially after you wind up your 9–6 job, you need to take care of your family and the hustle is real. We would have had so many ideas erected into our heads to explore our own creativity and try out new things. But Ouch, procrastination beats productivity though you somehow prioritize your time here.

So in my case, productivity is:- it could be reading a book when your mind is blank, or write something while you’re overthinking, or painting or learn digital art or master a new programming language. It is pretty hard I would say, even though all these sound very simple. But hey I was able to control my time somehow by following the below steps:

  1. Wake up early.
  2. Start your day with reading. Read, read and read. Be it an article or a blog, or 15 mins of your favorite novel.
  3. And drink water.
  4. Prepare a schedule for your activities and be strict about it. If you're unable to follow your timetable, observe where and how does your time goes to waste. You could use the clockify app to track the time.
  5. Surround yourself with people who motivate you. Give access to people only who inspire you.

Point 5 is the toughest one I would say. We live in a world where anybody could depress you that easily when you have spent months or probably years building upon your confidence. Choose your people very carefully and wisely.

6. Listen to music which gives you peace of mind.

7. Try to go to bed early.

8. Set goals for yourself, it could be the simplest tasks.

9. And keep everything private.

10. Lastly, throw away your phone.

Anyways, except for point 5, I was able to follow all the other points for *only one day*, and the rest of the days I was just lying lazy and procrastinating.

Please don’t be like me. It’s never too late to be on working your goals to be a millionaire even though you’re in debt of 250,000$ now.

May you receive the energy and strength to finish your projects, bring your ideas to life, and accomplish your goals. May your path be cleared and all the blocks are removed. May your creativity be multiplied and your imagination is filled with inspiration to make a difference.
